The obverse of this special note features "Sophia" a depiction of Athena the Greek goddess of wisdom. The design features a pillar which has a base that reads "all for our country." This vertical member symbolizes the soundness of gold as a form of money. A pillar image is shown on each Goldback denomination. Sophia holds mining tool representing Nevada's mining heritage. A wagon wheel and Mill represent Nevada's settlers.
